BRAKING EQUIPMENT FOR VERTICAL SHAFT WIND GENERATOR AND BRAKING METHOD THEREFOR

A braking equipment for a vertical shaft wind generator consists of a brake disc (8) connected to a generator rotor (3), a brake bracket (7) mounted on a main shaft (1), and a caliper-disc type brake (9) mounted on the brake bracket (7). A braking method for the braking equipment of the vertical shaft wind generator includes the following steps: when the generator is braked, the jaws of the brake (9) are closed to press upper and lower brake pads (6) against the brake disc (8), so as to brake the generator rotor (3); when the generator runs, the jaws of the brake (9) are opened, so as to rotate the generator rotor (3). The braking equipment and the braking method can avoid emergency brake of the generator at a high wind velocity, and thus improve the safety of the generator.
