PURPOSE: A digital picture frame operation method equipping a camera and apparatus thereof are provided to reduce power consumption by turning off an image display function in case there is not a user around a camera and turning on an image display function in case there is a user around a camera. CONSTITUTION: An image is obtained at periodic time interval(203). It is determined whether a user exists in the obtained image(211). A display function is turned on/off according to whether a user exists in the obtained image. When the user exists in the obtained image, the display function is turned on(213). The display function is turned off when the user does not exist in the obtained image(215).
