<p>PURPOSE: A light emitting element and backlight unit including the same are provided to form a prism pattern on upper side of a molding material to enable of directional angle distribution to be narrowed about one axis. CONSTITUTION: A light emitting element includes a package main body, a lead frame, a light emitting diode, and a molding material. The package main body includes a cavity. The lead frame is arranged in the package main body. The light emitting diode is connected to the lead frame in the cavity.
