[Also in Divisions B7 and F1] In an hydropneumatic system for controlling the landing gear of a tractor-trailer combination (see Division B7), interconnected legs 11, 11<SP>1</SP> each comprise a piston-rod 48 integral with a closure plate 50 and slidably supporting thereon a piston head 53 of a cylindrical wall 54 which is protected by a wall 59 and which carries a ground plate 55. Air is supplied through air ports 44, an annular passage 46 and an orifice 51 to an annular space 52 to keep the piston head 53 &c. retracted, and through a passage 62 to a chamber 65 to act on a piston 66 which controls a ball valve 71, 72, and oil is supplied through conduits 75, 80 and via the valves 71, 72 and tubular members 49 and openings 57 to act on the ground plate 55. The ball valve 71, 72 is held open during retraction of the legs to release oil. |
