PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner enabling highly efficient heat exchange without drastically increasing cost while reducing environmental load. SOLUTION: In the air conditioner 1, a compressor 21, a condenser 22 functioning as a condenser during cooling and an indoor unit 10 functioning as an evaporator during cooling are inserted in a refrigerant circulating passage in this order. In the refrigerant circulating passage during cooling, a refrigerant compression part 40 for compressing a refrigerant on the upstream side relative to a part which is the downstream side with respect to the condenser 22 and the upstream side with respect to the indoor unit 10 (between piping 33 and piping 34) is interposed in the part.
