PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that correction results in worse distortion when a moving subject changes in its moving speed or stops still. SOLUTION: The electronic camera includes an imaging element of a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix form for photographing an image of a subject with a rolling shutter system, and outputting an image signal; an image generation means for generating an image; a first detection means for detecting an area on an image corresponding to a moving subject included in the subject as a motion area by using a plurality of images continuously generated; a second detection means for detecting at least one of presence or absence of a specific subject having a predetermined feature in the moving subject and a movement characteristic of the motion area; a correction means for correcting a distortion generated in the motion subject caused by the rolling shutter system; and a restriction means for restricting correction of the distortion generated in the motion subject and caused by the correction means on the basis of a detected result of the second detection means.
