PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve dry grip performance and cut and chip resistance without diminishing abrasion resistance. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for tire tread contains 0.1-20 pts.wt. of an alkyl group-modified sugar derivative (for example, alkyl-D-glucopyranoside represented by general formula (1), n=0-24) and 60-200 pts.wt. of a reinforcing filler, such as carbon black based on 100 pts.wt. of a diene-based rubber component including 50 pts.wt. or more of styrene-butadiene rubber whose glass transition point is -50 to 0°C.
