PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the direction of an original in an imaged image appropriate. SOLUTION: In an image when it is determined that a placing operation to an original platen is started in a step S3, the lengths of two adjacent sides of the original are detected (step S4) and the longer one of the two sides is determined as a specified side (step S7). When a shutter key is operated, image data for one frame imaged by a CCD at the point of time are captured (step S9). In order to correct the image so as to make the direction of the original in the image data appropriate, the rotation angle of the image required for the correction processing is calculated first (step S10). For the calculation of the rotation angle, the rotation angle corresponding to the rotating direction of the original for turning the specified side to a reference side is calculated on the basis of the reference side set in a step S1 and the specified side determined in the step S7.
