<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an element having both of a wavelength selecting function and a light-separating/combining function in accordance with a polarization state by a single optical element. <P>SOLUTION: The optical element includes a substrate, having a first surface and a metal structure group including a plurality of metal structures arranged on the first surface in a two-dimensionally isolated manner. Light is made incident on the metal structure group, in an oblique manner with respect to the normal of the first surface from the metal-structure-group side or the substrate side, so that the polarization state of the light passing through the metal structure group is made different from the polarization state of the reflected light, according to the wavelength range. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
