PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser radar and a measurement method by the laser radar capable of increasing the speed of laser light scanning and reducing the size of a device and the costs. SOLUTION: The laser radar includes: a light projection part 2; a scanning part 3 performing the scanning with a laser beam LT emitted from the light projection part 2; a control part 4 issuing a light projection command for the laser beam LT to the light projection part 2 and controlling the scanning by the scanning part 3; a digital micro mirror device 5 selecting only a reflected laser beam LR returning by the reflection on a measurement object P in a scanning range E by the scanning with the laser beam LT by the scanning part 3 on the basis of the command from the control part 4; a light receiving part 6 receiving the reflected laser beam LR selected by the digital micromirror device 5; and a distance calculation part 7 obtaining distance information on the measurement object P on the basis of the projection timing of the laser beam LT provided from the control part 4 and the light receiving timing of the reflected laser beam LR provided from the light receiving part 6.
