<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inspecting an object that can determine that only a resin lens capable of avoiding the occurrence of enlarging of a waist diameter due to surface undulation is good. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This method for inspecting an object is adapted to inspect good or bad in quality of a scanning lens 6 made of a resin having a refraction index of 1.6 or more. In the method, it is determined that only the scanning lens 6 of which the PV value (a maximum height) of a undulation component having the wavelength same as an incident diameter of an optical beam in an optical system in terms of surface undulation by small irregularities on the surface of the scanning lens 6 to be a determination target of quality is equal to or less than "60/(the refraction index-1) [nm]", is made to be good.
