PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently execute exchange processing. SOLUTION: A cash handling apparatus has a control means for, when currency is input, discriminating it to store it in a storage, and for, when a payment command is issued, delivering the currency whose sum is pertinent to the payment command from the storage, and has a display means for performing external display according to a display command from the control means, and an input means for issuing a selection command to the control means. When a prescribed single operation command is issued, the control means displays, on the display means, selection information for selecting forward exchange processing for performing equivalent delivery from a large denomination to a small denomination or backward exchange processing for performing equivalent delivery from the small denomination to the large denomination, and executes either corresponding exchange processing when the selection command is issued through the input means.
