<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure sensor failure detection device for detecting failures in a pressure sensor for detecting a common rail pressure, such as an offset failure and a gain failure; and a fuel injection system using the same. <P>SOLUTION: If an engine rotation speed is almost equal to a target idle rotation speed and is stable with an idle rotation speed control (if Yes in S300; if Yes in S302), the pressure sensor failure detection device computes a reference injection amount (QFINB) of a fuel injection valve (S304). If a difference between a command injection amount which is an amount commanded to the fuel injection valve and the reference injection amount is larger than a prescribed value in a state where the engine rotation speed is almost equal to the target idle rotation speed and is stable (if Yes in S306), the pressure sensor failure detection device determines that the pressure sensor for detecting a common rail pressure is in failure (S308).
