SILICONE GRAFT COPOLYMER AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF

Disclosed are: a silicone graft copolymer having a silicone polymer moiety as a hydrophobic branch part and a polymer derived from a hydrophilic polymerizable monomer as a stem part; and a method for producing the silicone graft copolymer. Specifically disclosed are: a silicone graft copolymer produced by the copolymerization of a (meth)acrylic acid ester represented by the following formula: CH2=C(R1)-COO-(R2-O)n-R3 [wherein R1 represents H or a methyl; R2 represents an ethylene or propylene group; R3 represents H or a C1-6 hydrocarbon group; and n represents a number of 1 to 25, provided that R3 represents a univalent C1-6 hydrocarbon group when n is 1], an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid (salt), a silicone macromonomer having Mw of 5000 to 35000, and optionally other monomer; an aqueous coating polymer composition comprising the graft copolymer; and a method for producing the graft copolymer by the copolymerization in a mixed solvent composed of an organic solvent selected from the members of group (A) (a ketone, an ether, an ester, an aromatic hydrocarbon, and others) and an organic solvent selected from the members of group (B) (a monohydric or polyhydric alcohol, and a glycol ester).
