<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power unit having a stepped automatic transmission with a plurality of shift clutches arranged on an input shaft connected to a crankshaft, which has a simple structure and has small size in the axial direction of the crankshaft. <P>SOLUTION: An engine unit 20 is mounted to locate at least part of a rear wheel 18 outward of a crank pin 34c in the vehicle width direction, behind the crankshaft 34 and inward of the width of a transmission device 31 in the vehicle width direction. The input shaft 52 is provided with first and second clutches 55, 59 and first and second shift gear pairs 86, 83. A third kick gear 111 directly or indirectly meshes with part of the crankshaft 34 inward of a first shift gear 58 in the vehicle width direction.
