The invention provides a method of implementing a multiparty conference call in a mobile communications network by initiating a conference call by sending a text message by a user requesting a conference call to be set up. The operator sets up a conference bridge for the requested conference call and sends the user a message containing the identifier for the conference bridge. This identifier message can be forwarded to the desired invitees to the conference who can join the conference by activating the identifier.
