PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process, advantageous in production efficiency, for producing a vinyl compound containing a small amount of ionic impurities and hydrolysable halogen, curable with heat and/or light, providing a cured product with excellent dielectric characteristics and heat resistance and efficiently removing produced salt. SOLUTION: The production process comprises reacting a non-protonic polar solvent solution of a specific bifunctional phenylene ether oligomer with a vinylbenzyl halide in the presence of an alkoxide of an alkali metal, wherein the obtained reaction solution is acidified with a specific amount of an acidic substance, then the produced salt is removed, an alkali substance containing a specific amount of an alkali metal is added to the obtained solution, then the produced salt is removed, and the obtained solution is mixed with water or a water-alcohol mixed solution to precipitate a solid.
