A net (2) comprises a plurality of intersecting webbing members (6, 8). The intersecting webbing members (6, 8) are stitched together at the intersection (12) with a spiral stitching pattern (14). Preferably the stitching comprises a single continuous line arranged such that stitches do not cross each other. Ideally the spiral is square circular or triangular and is substantially symmetrical about at least one axis. The webs are preferably made from a material having an elongation at break of less than 5 to 15 percent. The webbing or the thread used for stitching may be made from aromatic polyamide, ultra high molecular weight polyethylene or liquid crystal polymers. The net may be a barrier or cargo net. |
