<p>1304623 Substituted benzylimidazoles BAYER AG 19 Feb 1970 [22 Feb 1969] 8030/70 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of formula and their salts, wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 are each H or alkyl or alkenyl (up to C 4 ), X is H, alkyl. alkoxy or alkylmercapto, or an electronegative or basic substituent, n is 0, 1 or 2, A is (possibly substituted) phenyl, pyridyl, alkyl, alkenyl or cycloalkyl, and B is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic radical, provided that A is not phenyl, substituted phenyl or pyridyl when B is phenyl or substituted phenyl. These compounds are prepared by reacting with imidazole in an organic solvent at 20-150‹ C., an appropriate precursor having Cl or Br instead of the imidazolyl group in the above formula. Therapeutic compositions for oral, parenteral, rectal or topical administration comprise compounds of the above formula, which are antimycotic, and also have activity against pathogenic protozoa and bacteria.</p> |
