METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR HANDLING INPUT/OUTPUT (I/O) ERRORS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for handling input/output (I/O) errors. SOLUTION: This method is a method for handling parity errors on an input/output (I/O) link of a system. The link is being shared by a plurality of devices of the system. The method includes: a step of checking a device for one, or two or more errors during a period of configuration of the system; and a step of restricting the device from being configured when one, or two or more errors are detected and repeating the step of checking with respect to another device; a step of examining the device about capabilities to recover from errors; and a step of configuring the device in a first mode when the device has the capabilities to recover from errors.
