PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive safety bulb lighting device capable of extending life of a safety bulb. SOLUTION: In the safety bulb lighting device 10 for making the safety bulb L1 light up, the safety bulb lighting device comprises a rectifier circuit 11 for rectifying AC voltage, a switching element TR1 for intermittently applying a rectified voltage outputted from the rectifier circuit 11 to the safety bulb L1, and a control unit 20 for controlling turning on and off of the switching element TR1.
