A dryer that, when refrigerant (for example, CO₂) leaks out of a refrigerant circuit of the dryer, does not, as far as possible, allow a user from inhaling the highly concentrated refrigerant. The dryer dries an object to be dried by cooling and dehumidifying air from a receiving tank (2) by a heat absorber (22), heating the dehumidified air by a heat radiator (23), and returning it to the receiving tank, circulating it to dry the object. The dryer has a door (6) for placing and taking the object out of the receiving tank, a door lock device (8) for locking the door (6) at a closed position, and refrigerant leakage detection means (9, 10, 24) for detecting a leakage of the refrigerant from the refrigerant circuit. When the refrigerant leakage detection means detects a leakage of the refrigerant from the refrigerant circuit, the door lock device locks the door.
