<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for discriminating a problem of a piezoelectric element of a micro-actuator. <P>SOLUTION: Vibration of a reference unit and a test unit is caused by applying voltage such as sine wave voltage to the reference unit (S602). Then, it is confirmed whether a problem exists in the test unit or not by comparison (e.g. using a processor) of corresponding resonance properties (e.g. frequency, amplitude, phase, or the like) (S604, S606, S608). The reference unit can possess a head gimbal assembly or a head suspension assembly of a hard disk drive device. Also, the test unit includes parts used for detection. A problem of the piezoelectric element can be detected by this technology even when only one piezoelectric element is included in each micro-actuator. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
