PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image control circuit which compensates an error associated with drive characteristics of a second order system of an optical modulator, and to provide a display apparatus and its image control method. SOLUTION: The display apparatus includes: an optical modulator 220 which modulates brightness of the incident light from an optical source 210 according to a driving voltage applied thereto and outputs the modulated light; a driver integrated circuit 225 which supplies a driving voltage according to an image control signal to the optical modulator; a scanner 230 which projects the modulated light to a predetermined position on a screen; and an image control circuit 250 which generates the image control signal from an input image signal for minimizing an influence of drive characteristics of the optical modulator and outputs the generated signal, and an image control circuit comprises: a drive characteristic correcting part 410 which outputs a corrected gray scale value which reflects an original gray scale value from the input image signal and drive characteristic coefficient of the optical modulator; and an image processing part 420 which outputs the image control signal to the drive integrated circuit.
