A method for compensating a laser power in an optical disc device is provided to record data stably by detecting a critical point, estimating power deviation due to temperature change, and converting power slope through X offset control of the critical point. A method for compensating a laser power in an optical disc device includes the steps of: monitoring light emission start point of a laser diode, and detecting a critical point; estimating power deviation caused by temperature change based on the critical point; and performing OPC(Optimum power control) after compensating estimated power deviation. Power deviation, which is caused temperature change, is estimated through power slope conversion of the critical point using X offset control.
