PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a canvas for a picture which is made free from the effect of the humidity in the air on a sheetlike canvas and gives a smooth touch with this canvas on the occasion of drawing the picture by using a brush or a knife. SOLUTION: The canvas 11 for the picture consists of the sheetlike canvas 15 prepared by applying a base coat material 13 on the surface of sheetlike fabric 12 of flax, cotton, synthetic fiber, blended fabric or others and by applying a moistureproof coating 14 on the surface of the base coat material 13.
