Compositions for prevention of red tide comprising natural plant extracts are provided to control and prevent red tide selectively by killing red tide-causing bacteria in an environment-friendly manner, thereby replacing chemical agents and loess for preventing red tide. A composition for prevention of red tide by inhibiting growth of Cochlodinium polykrikoides comprises the extract of at least one natural plant which is selected from Sophora flavescens Ait, sweet flag and Eugenia caryophyllata and is prepared by extracting natural plants with water, hydrophilic organic solvent or a mixed solvent thereof, and further comprises pharmaceutically acceptable diluents or excipients.
