The device has deviating temperature against the environment, particularly in the area of doors, has a passive infrared rays (PIR) sensor unit (20) with a PIR sensor (21,22,23,24) for detecting a infrared-radiation (80) emitted from the person (100), animals or articles. A thermo source (31,32,33,34) is arranged in the monitoring of the PIR-sensor for appliance-internal testing of the PIR-sensors.
