NEW USE OF RAGE POLYPEPTIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for screening a therapeutic agent for diseases related to bacteria having flagella; to provide a method for detecting the bacteria having the flagella; to provide a method for collecting the bacteria having the flagella and to provide the therapeutic agent for the diseases related to the bacteria having the flagella. SOLUTION: A method for evaluating effects of a test substance as the therapeutic agent for the diseases related to the bacteria having the flagella on the basis of actions of the test substance on the bond of an RAGE (receptor for advanced glycation endproducts) polypeptide to the flagella is provided. The method for detecting the bacteria having the flagella comprises bringing the RAGE polypeptide into contact with a test sample and detecting the bacteria bonded to the RAGE polypeptide as the bacteria having the flagella. The method for collecting the bacteria having the flagella in a sample comprises bringing the RAGE polypeptide into contact with the sample and bonding the bacteria having the flagella in the sample to the RAGE polypeptide.
