An agitator of a washing machine is provided to maintain water flows suitable for washing laundry by regulating the height of washing rod in correspondence to the washing water. An agitator of a washing machine includes a washing rod(100) and an extension rod(110). The washing rod is engaged with the rotational shaft of a motor disposed in the interior of the washing machine to rotate and wash laundry mixed with the washing water. A protrusion plate forming the force of flowing water is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the washing rod. The extension rod includes a protrusion(115) forming a guide groove into which the protrusion plate is inserted. The extension rod floats due to the buoyant force of air from the washing water to form the force of flowing water by the protrusion. |
