The proposed method for testing bolsters of freight cars by acoustic emission flaw detection is distinctive by applying a vertical load to the bolster, varying the said load according to a specified characteristic until the rated load specified for the bolster is achieved, holding the bolster at the rated vertical load for a time interval no less than a minute, removing the load, applying a vertical load to the bolster, varying the said load according to a specified characteristic until the double rated load for the bolster is achieved, and holding the bolster at the double rated load for a time interval no less than a minute.
