PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve good fuel consumption and operability by properly controlling lock-up releasing timing of a vehicle loading an automatic transmission comprising a torque converter with a lock-up device. SOLUTION: In a state of speed reduction ON by switching an accelerator from ON to OFF and a brake to ON in a lock-up state with a speed lower than a lock-up release car speed B, as, in this invention (embodiment), a delay timer A is operated after accelerator OFF, and a lock-up release car speed A for a time of brake-ON, lower than the lock-up release car speed B is set, the lock-up is not released until the car speed A is achieved, thus a long lock-up period can be secured, though in a conventional device, the lock-up is released when it is determined that a speed is lower than the lock-up release car speed B for the time of accelerator OFF and simultaneously brake OFF.
