<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus constituted so that a user can easily carry out a fixing unit replacing work by himself/herself without interrupting the miniaturization and compact structure of the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A locking member 42 is energized by a compression spring 43 in a direction shown by an arrow A', then, engaged with a locking projection 41. An engagement part 36 is pressurized to a positioning pin 37 in such a situation that the opening end 36a faces the direction shown by the arrow A', and the fixing unit 15 is located in a first position where the fixing unit 15 is locked by rails 30a and 30b. When the fixing unit 15 is rotated from the first position in a direction shown by an arrow B by taking the positioning pin 37 as a fulcrum, the engagement of the locking projection 41 with the locking member 42 is released, then, the engagement part 36 is also rotated in the direction shown by the arrow B.
