PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overcoated core wire, in which, the length of a overcoat layer that can be removed by one operation is unconventionally long and whose transmission loss never deteriorates under low temperature. SOLUTION: This overcoated core wire 19 is such that an optical fiber core wire 1 in which a glass fiber 30 is covered with a resin layer 31 is further covered with an overcoat layer 16, wherein the overcoat layer 16 is composed of a thermoplastic resin, with its inner surface layer having a fine rugged structure.
