An apparatus and a method for managing health are provided to calculate a reliable health index by sensing a voltage signal corresponding to a motion of a user. An apparatus for managing health includes a motion detection unit(110), a living body voltage sensing unit(120), an analyzing unit(130), and a health index calculation unit(140). The motion detection unit(110) detects a motion of a user according as the time elapses. The living body voltage sensing unit(120) senses a voltage signal of the user corresponding to the detected result. The analyzing unit(130) analyzes the sensed result. The health index calculation unit(140) calculates a health index based on the analyzed result. The health index represents a health state of the user. The motion detection unit(110) has a plurality of detection elements attached to a body of the user.
