An imaging device and method are provided to automatically capture an image which a user wants without missing a shutter chance. An imaging device includes an imaging element, a memory(21), a comparator(24), a determination unit, and a controller(3). The memory temporarily stores image data captured by the imaging element at a predetermined timing by a plurality of images. The comparator compares the images stored in the memory and detects whether an image variation corresponding to more than a first threshold value occurs in the stored images. When the comparator detects the image variation, the determination unit compares the images stored in the memory to determine whether the image variation is processed to be less than a second threshold value. When the determination unit determines that the image variation is processed to be less than the second threshold value, the controller records the image data captured by the imaging element in a predetermined recording medium(4). |
