An ink level detecting apparatus of an ink-jet printer is provided to reliably detect the minimum ink level even when a detection plate of an ink pack is inclined. An ink level detecting apparatus of an ink-jet printer includes an ink tank, a detection plate(12), at least one level sensor, and a catching jaw(13). The height of the detection plate is lowered as the residual amount of the ink in an ink pack decreases. The level sensor generates an electrical signal when one end of the detection plate makes contact with the level sensor. The catching jaw is provided at a height substantially the same as the lowermost level sensor to prevent the other end of the detection plate from being lowered further.
