The aim of the invention is to improve a savings book printer such that it can be used, in a simple manner, to process savings books having magnetic strips that are oriented parallel to the transport direction of the savings book through the printer. To this end, the magnetic head of the magnetic head arrangement for processing data on a magnetic strip of the savings book, oriented parallel to the transport device, is arranged in a fixed manner. As the savings book moves past the fixed magnetic head during the transport thereof through the printer, the data is read out during the movement of the savings book past the magnetic head.
