A covering element (11) having a body (12) and a flexible resilient expansion joint (15). A groove (13) extends peripherally along each side of the body (12). The expansion joint (15) is engageable with the groove (13) and is further engageable with a like formation of at least one other covering element to connect the covering elements together to form a covering layer. The expansion joint (15) allows for thermal expansion and contraction of the covering layer relative to a subfloor or wall. |
