PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information collection system capable of collecting information without any special operation, and a portable terminal. SOLUTION: A range identification information receiving part 62 of the portable terminal 12 receives range identification information for identifying a predetermined range and outputs this information to a portable terminal body 60. The CPU 70 of the portable terminal body 60 stores the inputted range identification information in a memory 72 and outputs the stored range identification information and portable terminal identification information for identifying the portable terminal 12 to a wireless LAN 64. The wireless LAN 64 sends the range identification information and the portable terminal identification information to a management center via radio 32, receives in-range operation information that corresponds to the range identification information from the management center, and outputs this information to the portable terminal body 60.
