PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect appearance of linear objects, such as an optical fiber in high-speed traveling with a high degree of accuracy and without malfunctions. SOLUTION: An anterior chamber 13, having a space possible capable of having an optical fiber F inserted is, arranged next to an inlet 16a of a detection chamber 14 for housing a detector optically detecting appearance of the optical fiber F at high-speed traveling. The longitudinal length L (m) of the anterior chamber 13 is adopted to satisfy the relation L≥(3.0×10<SP>-5</SP>)V for linear speed V (m/min) of the optical fiber F.
