Method for checking the leak-tightness of pipe connections, especially branch connections (2) to drainage pipes (1), whereby a pressure chamber (6) is formed by sealing of an area of the connection and main pipe using seals (9, 16) in the open end of the connection pipe and the inner end of the pipe where it empties into the main pipe. The pressure chamber is then pressurized using pressure application means (7, 8) to check for leaks. Inner and outer seals are then removed. An independent claim is made for a device for checking branch connections to pipes for leaks.
