A disposable diaper (1A) comprises a liquid absorbent core (2) having upper and lower surfaces (11, 12) and extending between front and rear girth regions (5, 7), a liquid permeable first sheet (3) having a covering upper section (14) covering the upper surface (11) of the core (2) and a covering lower section (15) covering the lower surface (12) of the core (2), and a liquid impermeable second sheet (4) positioned outside the covering lower section (15) of the first sheet (3). In the diaper (1A), the core (2) has a dehiscent section (13) passing between the upper and lower surfaces (11, 12) in the thickness direction and longitudinally extending from the front girth region (5) to a below-the-crotch region (6), and the covering upper section (14) and covering lower section (15) of the first sheet (3) define a water guide sleeve (16) longitudinally extending from the front girth region (5) to the below-the-crotch region (6) along the longitudinal centerline (L).
