System for smoothing the current consumption in a digital logical module comprises: a processing circuit for receiving and manipulating an input, a meter coupled to the processing circuit and configured to effect the tracking of a processing period during which the processing circuit manipulates the input and; an output gate coupled to the processing circuit and configured to transmit the output during a period of inactivity of the processing circuit. Independent claims are also included for the following:- (a) a further system for smoothing the current consumption in a digital logical module and; (b) two methods for smoothing the current consumption in a digital logical module.
