<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a translation by selecting an optimum translation device from among a plurality of translation devices via the Internet. <P>SOLUTION: An image translation device 100, a portal site 301 and translation sites 303 connected together on a communication network 302 are used to translate an image including a character pattern. The process comprises an image pickup step of capturing the image into the image translation device, an image processing step of generating image data communicable on the communication network from the image, a sending step of sending the image data from the image translation device to the portal site, a transfer step of transferring the image data from the portal site to the plurality of translation sites, a reception step of receiving, at the portal site, translation results with the character pattern included in the image data translated from the plurality of translation sites, and a sending step of sending the translation results to the image translation device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
