An audio data electronic watermarking device in which watermarking data can be embedded in audio data without causing any noise, while exhibiting durability against deformation due to irreversible compression, or the like, the process for embedding watermarking data is reversible and the watermarking data can be detected easily. A low frequency sound inaudible by human ear is utilized as data for generating a watermark and superposed on the original audio data to produce superposed audio data and then the value of a specified total sum, at a specified period, of the superposed audio data is controlled and encoded. When the watermark data is detected, 0/1 of the watermark data is judged from the results of the specified total sum, at the specified period, of the superposed audio data subjected to watermarking and then it is decoded.
