PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify an effective epitope sequence in peptides derived from a calcification promoting factor, to prepare antibodies using the same and to further provide a new immunological assaying/diagnostic method for bone metabolic diseases using the antibodies. SOLUTION: Various peptides derived from DMP1 (dentin matrix protein 1) are prepared and the immunogenicity thereof is studied. The resultant peptides are used to prepare the antibodies and usefulness of the antibodies is further variously studied. As a result, the antibodies prepared by using the specified peptides extremely specifically recognize the DMP1 molecule of mammals including humans with high sensitivity. The antibodies are effective for diagnosing tumors causing human osteomalacia or metabolic bone diseases such as osteoporosis. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
