PURPOSE: Provided is a composition for an electric heater used for an electron gun, which is a cordierite-mullite complex excellent in properties and a heat impact resistance. A process for producing the composition is also provided. CONSTITUTION: The composition is produced by the process comprising the steps of: mixing 35-40wt% of talc, 20-25wt% of alumina, 30-35wt% of refined clay; passing the mixture through a standard sieve of 325mesh; mixing the resultant in a pot mill for 12 hours; dry-molding the mixed powder in a hydraulic press under a pressure of 0.1-0.5ton/cm¬2; calcining the resultant in an electric furnace at 1,100-1,450deg.C for 2 hours. The composition is the cordierite-mullite complex containing 10-50wt% of the cordierite.
