PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce and stabilize internal resistance of a flat nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery capable of heavy-loading discharging by enlarging an electrode area without changing a battery shape. SOLUTION: In this flat nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery capable of heavy-loading discharging, an electrode group with total positive/negative electrode facing area through a separator larger than an opening area of an insulated gasket and a nonaqueous electrolyte are housed in positive/negative electrode cases sealed through the insulated gasket, and end parts of positive/negative electrode collectors comprised in the electrode group are exposed and contacted with inner bottom parts of the positive/negative electrode cases respectively. A metal sheet with porosity of 10%-60% and having a penetration hole in a thickness direction, for example, a metal sheet in a rhombic net shape is disposed between the positive electrode case or the negative electrode case and the electrode group to reduce and stabilize the internal resistance of the battery.
