<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a burden on a shadow reader and efficiently performing the processing by a computer in a short time in detecting an abnormal shadow candidate from three-dimensional image date by CT showing a subject. <P>SOLUTION: A cross section specification means 3 specifies a cross section of an abnormal shadow candidate detection object relative to CT image data P0 showing a plurality of slice surfaces. A thickness specification means 4 specifies the thickness larger than the dimension of the abnormal shadow candidate of the detection object in the direction perpendicular to the cross section. A projection image data creation means 1 creates image data P1 formed by projecting pixels in a region specified by the specified cross section and thickness on a plane parallel to the specified cross section from the CT image data P0.
